CHANNELS AND CATEGORIES

• Discord channels are essentially chat rooms which have multiple uses

• Channels are created under CATEGORIES and always start with a #, such as #rules

• Each channel will have a name which will correspond to its use

• Some channels will have special permissions which can stop some roles or members from speaking in them, typically in cook group servers; members will be able to talk in some roles such as #chat but wont be able to speak in some channels such as #announcements or #shopify-filtered

Categories are highlighted in blue, channels are highlighted in purple. Categories are used to organise a server and are usually titled to explain the overall use of each channel within the category
